You've Got To Move It!

In today's fast changing manufacturing environment, assets are not always in the location best suited to serve your customers.  Rather than mothball equipment in one location and buy new equipment for another, sometimes it makes more sense to utilize existing assets.  This often times involves moving equipment from one plant to another and/or upgrading a paint cell with automation or other improvements.  Thierica takes an approach to equipment relocation beyond that of just a rigging company.

Our focus is moving the complete process instead of simply the equipment. Our unique engineering resources allow us to start you're production process from robot programming and training to approved painted products out the door. So don't just let any rigger handle your equipment assets let the professionals at Thierica do it and ensure quality production at the other end.

Why Thierica?

  • Experienced crews that specialize in paint systems
  • Common crews are used for disassembly and reassembly
  • Start up and production capabilities
  • Training and launch support included
  • Reduce risk and get production going faster that a traditional move
  • Project management of the complete move so you can relax

We Can Do It!

Thierica Equipment has recently moved several of our paint machines around the globe.  We've moved machines from Hungary to Mexico, Mexico to China, Mexico to Canada, Mexico to the US and more.  Whether it's across town or across the ocean, we can help.

Large Process Piping

Forty-five foot long and three foot diameter pipes are a challenge to paint, but to automate the operation with robotic material application and in line curing is a daunting task. Thierica was not only able to provide a solution that applied the coating in line but cleaned the interior and exterior automatically prior to painting. Our sales and engineering team, lead by Dominic Zerilli, developed the unique concept and fully tested it on our floor prior to shipment to the production facility.

A Motoman robot applies the special protective coating as the part slowly travels through the booth and directly into an Infra Red oven; engineered for the exact amount of time necessary for applying the paint and immediately curing it.  Although this was the largest part Thierica had developed a system for, it was business as usual for the design and build team.

Drill Pipe Painting

This project involved designing a reciprocator to replace the customer's antiquated trestle paint system that was demolished by an overhead crane accident.  This manufacturer of various diameter drill-pipes (roughly 30' long) returned to high production painting with a solution developed by our engineering staff and Southeastern sales engineer, Robb Brewer, who was on site a day after the call came in.

Working closely with their production supervisors and operators, Thierica provided a system that exceeded their expectations for throughput and functionality.  The old system produced costly overspray that prematurely clogged the filters and contaminated the surrounding area.  The solution consisted of a dual spray head reciprocator with independently driven horizontal and vertical positional control, programmed with preset heights for each diameter of pipe.  The result provides an optimum standoff distance for the guns that increase transfer efficiency and reduce cycle time.  The project was completed ahead of schedule with great success due to the cooperation and teamwork shared with our customer.

Coating System for Hydraulic Fittings

Phil Morrison of Classic Metal Finishing needed a custom paint machine to apply friction reducing coatings to hydraulic fittings. The cylindrical part required a precise application of coating to the ID and OD of the part.  The challenge was to design a system for speed and accuracy while keeping it versatile for the various fitting sizes.  Dave Kooienga (Thierica sales) led our team to the engineered solution that includes an index table and Fanuc's new miniature paint robot.

Our system included mounting dual guns to the robot arm to address each surface.  The 6-axis robot also gave flexibility with the large variation of parts, thus no setup time lost between fitting type and size.  Primary benefits for the customer are material savings, smaller footprint, increased productivity as well as the advantage of being able to add many new part sizes.

Palletized Paint Cell System

  • Are your volumes down?
  • Is process complexity increasing?
  • Looking for a low cost solution?

Check out Thierica's palletized paint cell. Designed with your needs in mind. This modular equipment concept will allow you to process a wide range of part geometries and paint materials without costly change overs and better yet has short lead time, is easily relocated, and is less that half the cost of a traditional system.

UV Curing For Industrial Applications

On Tuesday May 6, 2008 Dave Kooienga presented a paper to the RadTech conference on UV Coatings.

The presentation was a great success with very large crowds attending the presentation. The level of interest is telling us that this type of technology will be popular for years to come.

Dave also included in his presentation steps on purchasing a finishing system that works best for a particular component. This topic also had a very high level of interest as many companies are considering new more efficient equipment as piece price becomes more competitive.

Thierica Presents at ANTEC 2008

This year Dominic Zerilli the Sales Manager at Thierica Equipment will be delivering a paper at the conference titled Advancements In Paint System Design.

Following is a brief statement from the paper:
"The growing challenge for manufacturers to stay competitive and profitable has led to new advances in paint system design and service. The time of being able to dedicate a large system to one program or product is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Customer's needs are changing and paint systems are changing to suit. The flexibility to process parts with different geometries, materials and application methods on one system has become a necessity. A new coating system designed specifically to address flexibility, modularity and lead time reductions are the focus of these advancements".

We hope to see you at the show, Milwaukee is a great town and the conference would benefit all those in the paint industry.

RadTech UV/EB Technology Expo 2008

UV Curing For Industrial Applications

On Tuesday May 6, 2008 Dave Kooienga will be presenting a paper to the conference on UV Coatings.

UV cured coatings for plastic and metal parts were recently cited in an industry survey as the next breakthrough application for UV / EB. Functional and decorative applications of UV coatings are driven by the technology's superior performance, throughput, energy savings and environmental properties. Dave will be able to answer all of your questions during the presentation and is looking forward to meeting you.
